Though the tap out finish arguably makes Big Cass look like a big loser, it's true that Daniel Bryan had to win his first pay-per-view singles match since postponing that retirement and returning to the ring. He needed it a lot more than Cass did.

Fans weren't exactly red-hot for the bulk of the match, and yet there's something unique about Bryan. Even when his matches aren't the best (few expected he'd pull off a five-star effort against Cass here), people come alive for his stiff kicks, roaring comebacks and his submission finisher.

That's the sign of somebody who can do no wrong.

Bryan's adoring public are desperate to see him run through bigger guys like Cass and get right back in the WWE Title mix again. A little patience will go a long way there, and there's bags of time before WWE need to pull the trigger on a main event run.

For now, it's just a plus point that he was booked to win.
