WWE Battleground 2016: 10 Things WWE Got Right

3. Sami Zayn Beating Kevin Owens

Looking back to Payback in early-May, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens had a fine match on the pay-per-view. In the past, that might have been it for both men, but they are definitely two of the finest performers in the modern era. It would have been an injustice not to allow them another crack at tearing the house down.

At Payback, it was Owens who came out on top as the victor. Things were completely reversed at Battleground, and that was the right call. Sami Zayn is the exact opposite of KO in every respect, a babyface who simply wants to compete and entertain the fans by doing so.

There's a reason WWE keep putting this combination together, and it's matches like the one seen at Battleground. If Owens had won, there may have been nowhere to go with the story, but now Zayn has avenged his prior defeat to his 'former' best friend and current arch nemesis.

Sami's win was treated favourably by the live crowd, probably because they realise that the chance now exists to book a rubber match between both men.
