Battleground is now in the history books and WWE can look forward to kicking off the 'new eras' on both Raw and SmackDown before SummerSlam. Add the Kickoff portion of the show to the total duration, and Battleground clocked in at well over four hours. It's likely then that attentions spans dwindled for some.

WWE have made a real effort to lengthen their pay-per-view events, usually by around 20-30 minutes or so. For more casual viewers, that may make it difficult to fully take in everything happening on the event. That's precisely why this article exists, to pick up on all the little details that could easily be missed.

Often, these take the shape of nuances that the WWE camera crew didn't linger on, or interesting statements made from behind the commentary booth. When watching with a crowd, it can be tough to home in on things said by the likes of Michael Cole, JBL and Byron Saxton.

From wild comparisons and awkward timing, to subtle references and impassioned promos, let's look at things you might have missed at WWE Battleground...

10. NXT's Greg Hamilton On Ring Announcing Duties

Quietly and without much fanfare, NXT's Greg Hamilton showed up at Battleground to do some ring announcing. Those who regularly watch the developmental brand will know Hamilton to be extremely good at what he does, but he somehow managed to fly right under the radar on this main roster pay-per-view.

There will be some who noticed him, but the guy wasn't exactly given a massive introduction or anything like that. Instead, his first order of business was simply to get on with announcing the Kickoff match between The Usos and Breezango. He did stick around for the main card, trading matches with JoJo.

It looks like Hamilton has been promoted for good, which is definitely deserved. As far as ring announcers go, WWE haven't had such a good male one since the days of Justin Roberts. He was never likely to get a grand intro from WWE or the other announcers, but Greg looked utterly delighted to be there.

Seems someone else got called up during the WWE Draft last week.
