1. John Cena vs. Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton vs. Kane - WWE World Heavyweight Championship (confirmed)
WWE.comThe booking of this match makes very little sense, particularly Roman Reignss inclusion in the match. Triple H announced that Reigns would compete, yet he and his wife Stephanie fired Vickie Guerrero for even putting Reigns in a position to earn a chance to earn a title match. The motive doesnt make very much sense, unless Hunter is out to deliberately screw Reigns out of the victory, leading to a match between Reigns and Triple H at Summerslam. Still though, to even put Reigns in a position to win the belt. Still though, its Reignss inclusion that makes this match interesting. Otherwise, having another iteration of Cena/Orton or Cena/Kane would be extremely boring. Reigns will at least garner some interest in a title change.
Prediction: Its a no-brainer that
Cena will retain the title here in the lock of the night. Its too boring to put the belt on Orton or Kane, and way too early to put the belt on Reigns. The big rumor is that John Cena will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Brock Lesnar at Summerslam, so this is just the first step to the big match happening. Theres also a possibility that Sheamus will defend the United States Championship at the show, maybe against The Miz. But other than that, the entire Battleground card has been built nicely based off a single episode of Raw, and thats a credit to the WWE writing team for going against their usual MO of booking for Pay Per Views.
