WWE Battleground Early Preview - 7 Matches That Will Take Place

2. Battle Royal - WWE Vacant Intercontinental Championship (confirmed)

WWE.comWWE.comPoor Wade Barrett. Every time he gets a big push, he suffers a major injury which will require him to be sidelined for a couple of months. The same thing happened to him in early 2012. It is unknown whether WWE will ever trust Barrett again with a sustained push because his durability will always be called into question. But the thing about WWE is that it€™s next man up, similar to a football team. There needs to be a new banner waiver for the Intercontinental Title, and the next champion will be determined by a Battle Royal. This marks the fourth Pay Per View this year where a majority of midcarders and upper-midcarders will be thrown into the same match, which makes booking much easier (the other three being the Royal Rumble match, the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at Wrestlemania, and the Money in the Bank ladder match at last month€™s Pay Per View). Signed so far for this battle royal (as of this writing) are Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, Cesaro, Alberto Del Rio, The Great Khali, Rob Van Dam, Damien Sandow, Curtis Axel, Bo Dallas, Ryback, and Big E. Prediction: The smart money is on Cesaro to take the belt, as he has the biggest push of any of the men in this battle royal. Since the World Heavyweight Championship was merged with the WWE Championship, the Intercontinental Title has once again become the number two championship in the company, so it makes the most sense for Cesaro to take the belt. But don€™t count out Bo Dallas as a dark horse candidate for the belt. The Bo-Lieve shtick is getting over, and fans would despise Dallas as an Intercontinental Champion.
