By promoting two separate brands with their own unique identities, WWE can hope to provide a distinct set of shows which could entice both jaded fans and newcomers to the product.

It's imperative the two brands are not merely mirror images of one-another, albeit one swathed in red and the other painted blue. By keeping elements unique to each show - for example the cruiserweights on one brand, and the female competitors on another - WWE can offer compelling reasons for those who don't like one programme to tune into the other.

Moreover, having content on one broadcast that can't be seen on the other could make them equally unmissable - ensuring viewers don't just watch one, but both.
