WWE Bringing Back Clash Of The Champions?

Updates on various trademarks.

With Paul Ellering returning to the company earlier this month, World Wrestling Entertainment subsequently applied for a new trademark for 'Legion of Doom'.

It would seem now that this has been dropped, after what I can only assume were company-wide nightmares involving Heidenreich and Rocco the Dummy.

That isn't the end of the trademark news however, as the company has applied for a new one that is bound to cause a lot of excitement and intrigue. WWE has applied to trademark 'Clash of the Champions', for use with a new TV show, toys, gaming and various other bits of merchandise.

Does this mean the popular WCW specials could be making a return?

Well, not exactly. All it really means is that WWE has applied for the trademark, but speculation is obviously going to point towards a possible return for the show. Clash of the Champions was to WCW what Saturday Night's Main Event was to the WWF, a pay-per-view calibre TV special event. The first was held in 1988, and featured Sting and Ric Flair going to a 45-minute time limit draw in the main event.

The last Clash (to date) happened in 1997 and featured Alex Wright beating Ultimo Dragon. Go figure.
