WWE Clash Of Champions 2016: 10 Things WWE Got Right

1. Keeping The WWE Universal Title On KO

Imagine the uproar on social media had Kevin Owens dropped the WWE Universal Title to Seth Rollins at Clash Of Champions. Whilst Rollins is a popular star himself (something even true when he was full-blown heel), Owens is an internet darling at the moment. Besides, he's only been champion for a matter of weeks.

It's important that WWE treat the new Universal Title with respect, especially after a dodgy start blighted by Finn Balor's injury. It wasn't exactly fantastic that the new championship had to be vacated shortly after it was first won. KO offers some stability in his role as champion.

Rollins is heading for a rivalry against Triple H, and that issue doesn't need the Universal Title to get over. Had management crudely made the switch, Owens would have been left back at square one and completely stripped of any and all momentum he has worked so hard to build.

Heavy interference from Chris Jericho and Stephanie McMahon or not, KO had to leave Clash Of Champions as the WWE Universal Champ. Otherwise, he would have been dead and buried as a top heel.
