3. Punk Vs Lesnar, Summerslam
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBzs6gpqSCY I loved this match. A lot of the reason for it ending up so good was Punk's enthusiasm for battling an MMA freak of nature like Lesnar. It allowed Punk to throw in some of the Ultimate Fighting style he enjoys watching, and he was also getting to work with a man he respected in an athletic capacity. The added dynamic of Lesnar and Punk's mutual best friend Paul Heyman must have also made this a particularly enjoyable time in Punk's WWE career. The match got underway with Lesnar pounding on Punk and the babyface star making sporadic comebacks of action. They gelled well and had a natural chemistry built around toughness. The height and weight difference significantly contributed to the great dynamic, as Lesnar was able to pop off stunning suplexes on Punk with ease. Visually it all looked great. The brawling mixed effectively with submission spots and move sets of the stars. Reversals and transitions furthered the excitement as both men got over as believable winners toward the end. One example of this was when Punk reversed an F5 into a DDT the comebacks against Lesnar's bully brawling were the perfect psychological engagement. The only downside was perhaps the slightly screwy ending. Paul Heyman got involved, leading to Punk going after 'The Walrus' instead of 'The Beast'. I didn't really buy that. The psychology was off here Punk came across as plainly stupid to take his attention off Lesnar in order to put the Anaconda Vice on Heyman. Why not just knock Heyman out with a kick and then put the submission on Lesnar instead? WWE fluffed the ending there. An F5 onto a steel chair was next, allowing Brock to score the pin. It had been a hell of a match, with full credit to Punk as the full-timer for carrying the part-time Brock to his best match since coming back.
