WWE Crown Jewel: 10 Things We Learned
2. WWE View Shane McMahon As ‘Best In The World’?
Yes, as ridiculous as it is, non-entrant Shane McMahon ended up taking home the prize and being named 'Best In The World' by WWE. When he held that World Cup trophy aloft, one could almost hear critics, who were already sharpening their knives, feverishly rushing for the sanctuary of Twitter to spill their distaste.
The whole scenario was lame. Surely, even those who are quite fond of Shane-O would agree there.
The mere idea that he'd been positioned to swoop in, save the day and then celebrate like he was Bret Hart at the 1993 King Of The Ring was nauseating. With this, WWE laughed in the faces of anyone who had taken the trouble to enjoy the World Cup format over the past few weeks. It, unfortunately, also reeked of nepotism.
Shane's rabbit punches were embarrassing against Dolph Ziggler, his forced happiness phoney and his decision to replace Miz arrogant. It contravened his likeable Commissioner guise on SmackDown and made a mockery of the tournament all at once.
