8. The Miz Is Getting Fired

You’ll no doubt have seen on SmackDown this week that Shane McMahon very much wants to win the World Cup for his brand. Now this is all about honour and prestige and glory and definitely not because he secretly still harbours a desire to smash his sister.

To this end he has told his representatives in his half of the draw (messers Hardy, Orton, Miz and Mystery Jr) that whosoever makes it to the final will be fired if they don’t bring him the gold. An incredible motivational technique, for sure, but one that teases a very surprising storyline.

All the talk at present is of a Miz/Rollins final, and if indeed a firing angle is on the cards then he’s arguably the only one of the four who could make it work. Precisely why we’d get this is unclear, but the most logical answer is to set up some sort of feud with Shane McMahon.

We are worrying close to WrestleMania season for that to be the case…
