WWE Crown Jewel: 8 Last Minute Rumours You Need To Know

Greatest Royal Rumble Jeddah
WWE Network

We all, I’m sure, remember Greatest Royal Rumble. More specifically though, I’m sure we all remember the tone of it. WWE were very keen on that broadcast (and for “keen” read “contractually obligated”) to constantly put their hosts over, and repeatedly thanked the “vibrant and progressive country” for having them.

Assuming you've not spent the last month living in cave, on mars, with your eyes shut and your fingers in your ears screaming “lalalalalalalalalalala” then you’ll understand that they will not want to do that this time. In short, the political landscape of the country has shifted massively following the death Jamal Khashoggi, and they won't want to be associated with it.

However the latest reports from the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer are that WWE will still be under the same contractual obligations to help advertise Saudi Arabia during the broadcast. It’ll not go down well with a huge chunk of the audience, but it’s likely out of their hands.
