WWE CWC: 10 Things We Learned From The First Episode

I hope you weren’t thinking of making any plans for your Wednesday evenings this summer. Or if you’re based outside of the States, maybe you should book your Thursday mornings off now.

Because the WWE just added yet another show to the hectic programme that is Wednesday night wrestling, and it might just be the best of the lot. The Cruiserweight Classic debuted this week on the WWE Network and despite the title of this article, you could argue there’s really only one thing that we learned:

It’s really, really good.

In all seriousness though, it’s so refreshing to see the WWE actually evolving with the times, acknowledging that there are other ways to present pro wrestling, and generally pushing that envelope.

And while our learnings can be summarised in the sentence above, there was actually a whole lot that went down on the show. This article delves into some of those details as we look back at 10 things we learned from the debut episode of the CWC.

This wasn't necessarily something new that we learned—rather a reiteration of what we already knew. When it comes to the confines of developmental; Triple H rules the roost.

His presence was felt right from the get-go as he provided the voiceover for the show’s opening promo package, reminding us all that the CWC is very much Triple H’s brainchild.

The cynics might be tempted to put this down to ego—he does have a bit of a habit of trying to hijack all things NXT-related. But given his rising status in the company, surely it’s just good to see concepts such as the CWC so high on his busy agenda?

I know it gets said an awful lot online, but if it’s going to result in more programming like this, then the future really does look bright with Triple H at the helm.
