So the CWC wasn’t just a hive of high octane action. With its announcement of the schedule and the allusion to future seasons, it was also fairly informative.

And on top of that, commentary extraordinaire Mauro Ranallo reminded us ahead of each contest that these matches had a 20 minute time limit.

Of course, I’m not sure how many people were actually expecting these first round meetings to top the 20 minute mark. But regardless of the reality of the situation, the idea that organisers had actually assigned each match a maximum time limit is just another aspect that adds to the legitimacy of the tournament’s presentation.

It’s a far cry from the format of Monday Night Raw, in which matches are organised on an ad hoc basis as and when Shane and Steph choose. Are we really supposed to believe that’s the way a multimillion dollar enterprise conducts itself on live TV?
