Of course, Saez may have won at facial expressions, but unfortunately he didn’t win at wrestling. Metalik emerged the victor in the CWC’s opening bout, but not before he’d wowed us with some stunning displays of balance.

The first rendition came as he mounted the middle rope, pirouetting from one side of the turnbuckle to the other—before unleashing a big-time drop-kick to the chin of the wide-eyed Saez. And as if that wasn’t impressive enough, Metalik then trumped himself with a taste of old school; tiptoeing his way across the top rope, this time as a precursor to a splash.

More often than not, in the world of lucha, it’s moments like this that lead to botches. Not in the case of Gran Metalik, though. The fact that he managed to pull those moves off so smoothly—and with a potentially impeding mask on as well—shows you just how talented he is.
