WWE Discussing SHOCKING Wrestler Return?!

Somebody you never thought you'd see on WWE television again becomes the subject of comeback talks.

Vince McMahon Mustafa Ali

Wantaway star Mustafa Ali has been the subject of behind-the-scenes comeback discussions in WWE, reports Fightful Select.

Ali, who requested (and was denied) his release from the promotion in January, has at least been talked about internally as somebody WWE could bring back to television soon. One specific pitch would have seen him return on tonight's episode of Raw, though Fightful's writeup notes the ever-shifting nature of that show and its planning process. This makes it difficult to say whether or not he'll be on the broadcast with any degree of certainty.

Absent since October 2021, having lost nine televised bouts in a row prior to being taken off television, Ali asked for a week off work ahead of his daughter's birth the following month - and hasn't yet returned. Requesting to be let go by the promotion a few months later, a backstage argument with Vince McMahon himself over creative concerns reportedly contributed to the decision.

It soon became apparent that WWE wasn't going to grant Ali's request. The former RETRIBUTION leader still has several years left on his contract with the market leaders.

Mustafa, 36, has been with WWE since signing shortly after the Cruiserweight Classic tournament in 2016.
