WWE Draft 2016: 5 Things That Will Happen (And 5 That Won't)

9. The Women WILL Be On The Same Brand

Women’s wrestling hasn’t quite undergone the post-WrestleMania renaissance that many expected. Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch delivered a match-of-the-night performance in Arlington, Texas, but despite a noticeable increase in TV time, erratic storylines and inconsistent face/heel alignments mean the Women’s division is still in a state of flux.

WWE cannot afford to tear its Women’s division in half at this point, and they won’t. The talent pool simply isn’t big enough. 15 women are currently listed on WWE’s female talent roster, four of whom are injured (Emma, Nikkie Bella, Rosa Mendes, and Tamina), one who works solely as a manager (Lana), and another who hasn’t been seen in months (Naomi).

That leaves four active women for each brand, which is nowhere near enough to fill-out a credible title division. As good as the likes of Becky, Sasha, and Paige are, there isn’t enough of them to justify not keeping them together as part of the draft, and while WWE have bumbled their way through the “Divas Revolution,” they do seem genuinely committed to women’s wrestling. If they’re as serious as they claim, they’ll keep this talented-but-sparse group of competitors together.
