WWE Draft 2017: 10 Trades To Expect

8. Sami Zayn To SmackDown

Always a consensus pick for “WWE’s most underused wrestler,” Sami Zayn has done nothing of note since besting Kevin Owens at Battleground 2016. The former NXT Champion is thrown into losing positions more often than not, and while he was a good foil for Braun Strowman a few months ago, he definitely has the ability to play a bigger role for the company.

Zayn doesn’t need to be thrown into world title programs, but he deserves the opportunity to at least be pushed with increased credibility. He’ll never get that chance on Raw, however, particularly with the likes of Seth Rollins and Finn Balor occupying the top babyface spots. Thus, it’s time for him to travel to pastures new, where he’ll benefit from smarter booking, increased focus, and a stronger push.

Though Sami attempted to build a relationship with new Raw General Manager Kurt Angle last night, it feels like his time there is done. The red brand just doesn’t have a use for him anymore, and after spending the last few months spinning his wheels, WWE will likely try to revive Sami’s career on Tuesdays, where he’d immediately become one of the brand’s top faces.
