WWE Draft 2017: 10 Trades To Expect

6. The New Day To SmackDown

Big E, Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston have done nothing of note since breaking Demolition’s Tag Team Title record. They lost the belts to Cesaro & Sheamus, screwed around with Titus O’Neil for a few weeks, and have spent the past couple of months cutting the same stale promo every week. The New Day are directionless, and after hosting WrestleMania 33, it’s time for a fresh start.

When the New Day wrestled The Revival last night, it felt like they were putting exciting new talent over on their way out of the territory. They’ve wrestled everyone there is to wrestle on Raw, and while they’re still one of WWE’s most popular acts, some sections of the audience have become burned-out on their act. They need a new challenge, and SmackDown would love to acquire them.

The blue brand’s tag scene desperately needs some credibility. American Alpha and The Usos are languishing, but the New Day’s star power would help pull them from the doldrums. The trade wouldn’t solve SD’s tag issues on its own, but it’d be a great start, and would help prolong the New Day gimmick’s shelf life well into 2018.
