6. Elimination Chamber Match - Elimination Chamber (2013)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FX38PyfPn0 Daniel Bryan vs Chris Jericho vs Jack Swagger vs Kane vs Randy Orton vs Mark Henry (#1 Contendership to the World Heavyweight Title) This is going to be a controversial one. This match, in of itself, wasn't bad at all. You need only look at some of the workers in the match to know it would be fine in terms of match quality and it was. I loved this match and I hated this match and I'ma tell you why. How many people, going into this match thought Jack Swagger would win? A fair few I would say. How many thought it would last? Not many, I would say. Now, yes, Jack Swagger's subsequent arrest for DUI and possession of marijuana didn't help- not one small jot but had he not suffered that DUI, would it lasted anyway? No. This match was obsolete from the moment the bell rang. Swagger had just returned from 5-month hiatus prior to this match with an old-school wrestling hand, albeit a new one to today's audience, Dutch Mantel, aka Zeb Colter at his side. The combination of this, the anti-immigration gimmick Colter is still running with today and WWE's push of Del Rio as mentioned earlier meant the writing was well on the wall before this match began. Make no mistake about it, the DUI didn't cost Swagger a win at Wrestlemania 29, he was losing anyway. The whole angle was designed as part and parcel of Del Rio's push as a Mexican babyface. Swagger was but a means to an end which is why watching this match was like watching a pantomime. You can try and suspend disbelief all you want but, eventually, you have to stop and ask the question: "Why am I watching this match?" in context. This is not a healthy way to watch wrestling, don't do it! Much like Swagger's Money in the Bank victory in 2010, I'm afraid this match was doomed to fall into the dusty catacombs of Elimination Chamber history the moment they decided they'll use it to find a man to feed to misguided Del Rio at Wrestlemania 29. Nothing on Swagger; he was placed in an impossible situation here. Probably why he thought "To hell with it, chuck me the bong Buddha."
