WWE Elimination Chamber: 10 Worst Matches Ever

7. Jack Swagger vs Finlay - No Way Out (2009)

ECW Championship Match http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_PHWpv9-Ns In my opinion, the 2009 edition of No Way Out (and the last in its traditional, February slot) might just be the best ever. In contrast to, overall, disappointing productions of the Royal Rumble & Wrestlemania 25 either side of it, that year, everything WWE went for with this event paid off. Building on the success of the previous year's event, WWE brought back the dual-Chamber Match concept, only this time, placed the World Titles into play. The event started and ended strong, with the compelling and original story of Edge losing the WWE Title in the opening Chamber match before coming back to win the World Heavyweight Title in the final match on the show striking a chord with the live crowd. In addition, you saw Shawn Michaels' break free of the control of JBL on his way to a certain match with Undertaker at Wrestlemania and a red-hot Randy Orton tear it up with Shane McMahon. It's unfortunate, then, that WWE placed an extremely green Jack Swagger in the middle of all this in a throwaway title defence against Finlay. The ECW brand, by this point, was so diluted that people had simply ceased to care. When you're having one match at every PPV event and it's often the worst of the night, that kind of thing can happen to you. Chavo Guerrero, as ECW Champion, entered the 2008 Royal Rumble. That says it all really. WWE has been hot and cold with their opinion of Swagger over the years. His look and natural athletic ability have led them to invest in him, intermittently before giving up and leaving him stranded in mid-card hell for as long as they choose- more on that next- his lack of natural charisma providing a roadblock to what, otherwise, could've been a far more prominent career thus far. From ECW Champion here to the most forgettable World Heavyweight Champion in history, WWE has never managed to push Swagger correctly. Placing him as an unfortunate buffer match in an otherwise stacked show certainly didn't help his cause. I wonder how many of you remember a single thing that happened during this match? Nope, me neither. Swagger won with his powerbomb, I think. Speaking of Jack Swagger...
