WWE Elimination Chamber 2017 - 6 Positives And 4 Negatives
5. Positive: They Started The Build In Decent Time
Earlier in the introduction, a brief mention was made about how quickly this PPV has rolled around. With just 14 days between the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber, it would have been easy for the latter show to be eclipsed by the former and rendered no more than an afterthought.
Luckily, though, the company made sure to promote Elimination Chamber ahead of time to ensure the event remained firmly on everyone’s radar.
Before the Royal Rumble had even taken place, SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon announced that the WWE Championship would defended in the Chamber at its namesake PPV on Feb 12.
Not only did that steadily start hyping up the show, it also added an interesting sub-text to the WWE title match at the Rumble. With that Chamber defence to factor into the equation, suddenly AJ Styles vs. John Cena became a little more difficult to call.
In an age where major shows can be a twice-a-month occurrence, it’s nice to see that kind of forethinking.
