The winding road to WrestleMania continued with Elimination Chamber, a PPV that looked relatively mediocre on paper and basically lived down to that expectation.

Other than serving up another historic first for women's wrestling in WWE, the show was characterised by passable and mediocre bouts that basically belonged on weekly TV.

There was only one legitimately bad match, but an awful lot of also-ran contests few at home or in the arena seemed to care much about.

Instead, most of the show's headlines will revolve around Ronda Rousey's embarrassing contract signing segment, which at least had the courtesy to go from 0-to-awesome when she slammed Trips through a table.

The rest of the show was mostly pallid and just watchable, while neither Chamber match quite lived up to their potential, even though one was clearly much better than the other.

As is always a problem at this time of the year, WWE is really just killing time until WrestleMania, and the thoroughly unambitious booking makes it even more abundantly clear...
