WWE Elimination Chamber 2019: 6 Last-Minute Rumours You Need To Know

5. Owens Returns (To Help Balor)

Kevin Owens Raw SmackDown
WWE

Who is Kevin Owens best friend in professional wrestling? No, I mean other than Sami Zayn... and Chris Jericho... I mean who was originally billed as his best friend when he debuted in NXT? Yes! Finn Balor, of course, we got there eventually.

Kevin Owens is coming back to WWE. His return has been billed for a number of months now even if we haven't been blessed with a specific date. When it happens though he's almost certainly coming back as a face because, well, that's pretty much what he left as. We can debate until we're blue in the face about what the opportune time to do it is (he's fit and cleared already) but this weekend actually makes a lot of sense.

First off, you've got a handicap match that makes very little sense. Singles? Yeah, fine. Tag Team? Also a good shout, but 2-on-1 doesn't really do anything for either Lashley or Balor. The Irishman could look strong in defeat, but he already did that 100x more effectively against Lesnar, and it's an absolute no win for Lashley. Either he gets beat and looks like a dork or, even if he wins, he needed Leo Rush to do it.

But a returning Kevin Owens evening up the playing field helps push all three of them forward. You can have a competitive match where the faces get a nice moment with a morale boosting win, and you just pin Leo Rush to do it. See, you can have it all.
