Time for some sobering honesty.

Neither Elimination Chamber on a show titled Elimination Chamber is particularly thrilling. This is a one-match card, and the gimmick bouts only serve as window dressing for what's waiting inside. Everyone knows that, but it doesn't mean the United States Title bout has to be knee-jerk.

It's vital that Austin Theory comes out of this with his title reign intact. WWE might be tempted to book a championship switch just to get one on there. They shouldn't though - Seth Rollins, the most likely to win other than Theory, doesn't need the strap for his incoming match vs. Logan Paul.

Meanwhile, nobody else in the match really feels like they'd do anything worthwhile with the belt. Austin should retain, then motor onto something else in time for WrestleMania. John Cena would be ideal, but that looks less and less likely the more days tick by.

He's keeping the title regardless. Hopefully!
