WWE Elimination Chamber: 6 Matches You Must Watch First

5. 2006 December To Dismember Elimination Chamber

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpFL3m9R_h4 What Not To Do With A Popular Babyface The only all ECW Elimination Chamber match took place in the James Brown Arena in Augusta, Georgia. The December To Dismember pay per view has the reputation of being one of the worst pay per views of all time but the 'Extreme' Elimination Chamber match isn't as bad as its made out to be. It's actually a really entertaining match, but fans will want to take note of this match just in case something that happened here repeats itself on Sunday night at Elimination Chamber 2014. What am I talking about? I'm talking about CM Punk. Punk was on a bit of a roll in ECW and was slowly gaining fan support, but WWE were determined to push the green (but gifted) Bobby Lashley and so the babyface Punk was eliminated first and this enraged fans. Now, in 2014 we have Daniel Bryan. If Bryan is eliminated swiftly then expect fans to react even more negatively on the rest of the match so it would wise for WWE to learn from this match and let Bryan go the distance and come up short, but do not get rid of him as quickly as Punk in the Extreme Chamber. CM Punk and Lashley also faced ECW Champion The Big Show, Hardcore Holly (a replacement for Sabu who was removed from the match), Rob Van Dam and Test in the Chamber. This match is unique as each wrestler in the pod was also in there with a weapon that they could use which added a unique and even more brutal complexion to the match. Almost 5000 fans in the arena witnessed the match live and it is certainly different from other Chamber matches in history. There were lots of good story dynamics in the match with both Test and Hardcore Holly aligned with Champion The Big Show and his desperate attempt to keep the Championship and then there is the ascent of Bobby Lashley and Rob Van Dam's quest to regain the ECW Championship he was screwed out of. The match also includes some unique Chamber spots such as a excellent Rolling Thunder from RVD and a Diving Elbow Drop by Test from the top of a pod from an inspired Test. It's also notable as the event and its disastrous reception would lead Paul Heyman to walk out on his contract and leave WWE because he felt Punk should be the recipient of Lashley's push and the animosity surrounding Sabu's removal from the Chamber. Maybe it wasnt perfect but it's a unique Chamber match and it certainly has a place in history with its violent content and exciting Chamber moments.
