After from the WCW picture in 1999, Bischoff would return by the Spring of 2000. Aligned with Vince Russo, the pair were viewed as the antidote to the promotion's many problems, the kind of tandem that could turn the sinking ship back around and bring back the glory days.

Things didn't necessarily work out as planned, but Eric was highly interested in actually buying World Championship Wrestling. Alongside his business partner Jason Hervey, Bischoff had backing from Fusient Media Ventures, and it seemed he'd be part of a coup to finally have full control of the company.

That was until AOL/Time Warner decided to boot WCW programming off the air.

That left the deal dead in the water, and it's something Bischoff laments over here. His wife even pops up to comment that he had been greatly looking forward to trying to steer WCW back in the right direction, only to be left bitterly disappointed when his motion was blocked.

The corporate structure in charge were seemingly desperate to wash their hands of pro wrestling for good.
