WWE Evolution Ticket Sales Struggling Despite Massive Hype?

Bad news for WWE's first all-women pay-per-view.

Stephanie McMahon announced WWE's all-women Evolution pay-per-view to great hype on the 23 July episode of Raw, but the excitement levels haven't translated to ticket sales.

According to Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Evolution did not sell out after going on sale on 24 August, with tickets remaining in every single price category.

The show is set to take place at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York on 28 October. The building will be calibrated for 10,900 tickets, and is still expected to sell out eventually, but the slow start is surprising for a number of reasons.

Evolution's immediately hype levels suggested the pay-per-view would be among the year's hottest tickets. On top of this, New York is one of the sport's biggest markets, and most WWE PPVs are what Meltzer describes as "giant successes out of the gates." Unfortunately, Evolution hasn't hit that mark.

It's hard to read too much into this, as Trish Stratus vs. Alexa Bliss and the Mae Young Classic finals were the only bouts announced at the time tickets went on-sale. Still, let's hope business picks up: it'd be a shame to see this historic event draw anything less than a sellout.
