WWE Extreme Rules: 10 Things Overly Optimistic Fans Hope Will Happen

7. Cesaro Does Something Important

At this point there's no Cesaro match scheduled for the show and after looking at the Smackdown spoilers, it doesn't seem likely that he'll need to have another match with Jack Swagger. It feels like WWE has dropped the ball with him in terms of giving him an opponent at his first PPV as a "Paul Heyman Guy." He should be something that matters. A report in the latest Wrestling Observer notes that they could be doing a Cesaro vs. Swagger vs. Rob Van Dam match at Extreme Rules. The reason for RVD's inclusion would be that he beat Cesaro by countout on Raw (thanks to Swagger's interference), so it's a way for Cesaro to get a win back. Plus, RVD is a former WWE Champion with some credibility. It would be a quality win over a former Heyman Guy. Cesaro has been pushed heavily in the past few months with his inclusion in the Elimination Chamber main event and the battle royal win at WrestleMania. What happened to carrying around the trophy? It's deformed, but it should still be out there! The point is that he had a lot of momentum on his side. Now it's been flustered a bit. There's obviously a lot of time to build up Cesaro as a heel, which would lead to a face turn down the road. It's too early to panic right now. However, the guy is hot at the moment and having another match with RVD or Swagger feels underwhelming.
