WWE Extreme Rules: 10 Things Overly Optimistic Fans Hope Will Happen
8. The IC Title Match Leads To An Actual Feud For Big E
Whether Big E wins or loses at Extreme Rules doesn't really matter that much because the Intercontinental Title has barely been defended since he won it. It's not as bad the US Title that Dean Ambrose almost never defends, but it's getting to the point where they have no idea how to book it either. What he needs is a feud. Badly. The most likely outcome of the Bad News Barrett vs. Rob Van Dam match on Raw to determine the challenger of Big E's title will be a BNB win. He's the heel. It makes more sense Is Barrett really elevated if he wins the IC Title again? He's already held that title three times and none of those reigns meant a whole lot. Maybe in WWE's eyes the IC Title is more valuable now that there's only one major championship, but they have to prove it's more valuable by booking it in a better way. The ideal scenario would be for Big E to win the match, Barrett to attack post match and for the rivalry to continue. Build to something bigger like a Steel Cage Match or Ladder Match down the road. How about 2 out of 3 Falls? That hasn't been done in a while. Just give us something creative. It's not that hard for the booking team to show us that they actually put some thought into these midcard feuds.
