WWE Extreme Rules 2014: 10 Match Types We Most Want To See

WrestleMania has already come to an end, but once the event ends, that doesn't mean everybody in WWE gets to go on vacation. Instead, another whole year of exciting professional wrestling action gets planned out, and that means having to always think about the future. The next pay per view event after WrestleMania is Extreme Rules which will take place at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The show may be a month away, but there's still plenty of time to speculate over that the WWE writers have planned for the show. Naturally, there are going to be a few WrestleMania rematches, and every match is going to have some type of gimmick or stipulation that makes it "Extreme" compared to most other shows. Based on what's been shown in the Extreme Rules of previous years, there are going to be a few traditional match types that will be placed on the show. But there's also the potential for there to be a few surprises too. WWE's PG rating limits some of the more gruesome match types, but sometimes with a wrestling show less is more, and so here are ten "hardcore" match types that WWE is capable of putting on the Extreme Rules show that the WWE Universe will want to see.

10. Table Match

Table matches are pretty much standard when classifying the various types of hardcore matches. There's just something about watching a wrestler put another wrestler through a table that makes the fans go nuts. The more elevated the wrestler happens to be, the better and more extreme that table spot will be. So of course an entire match where the focus is on trying to put an opponent through a table would get people's attention, especially if you have a bunch of wrestlers in the ring at once. Table matches have usually been one on one encounter in the past, but in other wrestling promotions it's not unusual to see tag team table matches. Sometimes there are multiple teams in the tag match as well, and that's something that WWE could utilize in order to get people's attention. The tag team championships were contested in a fatal four way tag match during the WrestleMania pre-show with The Usos retaining the gold. Since Extreme Rules is known for WrestleMania rematches, it would make sense to not only recreate the four way match, but also place it higher on the card, give it more time, and throw in a table stipulation to give it that extreme edge. If done right, it could be a show stealing match that everyone would be talking about the next day.
