Better yet, the layout of Rusev's match against Kalisto on the main pay-per-view card felt absolutely fantastic. As WWE United States Champion, Kalisto has proved decent, but he's continually been portrayed as a placeholder rather than a deserving champ. That came across loud and clear by the way WWE booked his display against Rusev.

Outmatched from the get-go, Kalisto didn't stand a chance against someone the promotion have seemingly come to terms with again. Last year, Rusev had quite the nightmare, his career derailing to the point that it looked like there was no way back for him. How quickly things can change.

At one point in the bout, the referee tried to keep Rusev away from an injured Kalisto. A ringside doctor was called upon to check on the masked man, but Rusev repeatedly interfered, blasting his foe with vicious stomps.

Then, he locked in the Accolade to pick up the submission victory and bag the title. Fans seemed worried when the medic was called upon, because it looked like the match may be thrown out.
