WWE Extreme Rules 2016: 10 Things That Must Happen
5. Rusev Becomes United States Champion
Kalisto's run with the WWE United States Title is surely coming to an end sooner rather than later. The Lucha Dragon has been a fine interim champion, but the company haven't really pushed him with any true purpose. He's all too often an underdog afterthought who spends much of his time on the Kickoff show.
In one sense, that's a shame, because Kalisto is clearly talented. He also represents the best opportunity WWE have had for years to tap into the success Rey Mysterio once had in the promotion. As it stands, however, it looks like Kalisto will be crushed by a reborn Rusev this Sunday.
Confusing loss to Sin Cara aside, Rusev has been booked much better since leaving the League Of Nations behind. Putting the United States Title on him makes sense; it'd almost push the reset button on his career, wiping the slate clean and turning him back into that dominating monster of before.
It would also likely shunt him up the ladder, as John Cena prepares to make a return. Cena needs a title to go after, and Rusev could be the perfect target, reviving their feud from early 2015.
