WWE Extreme Rules 2016: 10 Things You Probably Missed

1. AJ Styles Made Sure Roman's Face Didn't Hit The Steel Chair

Nowadays, WWE have a strict policy regarding weapon shots to the head and face of their wrestlers. Simply put, it's something that has been banned in more recent years. It seems that extends to landing on chairs too, because AJ Styles did everything he could to protect Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules.

Maybe it was a mistake, but it looked like AJ deliberately dropped Reigns with the Styles Clash just away from the steel. Roman's mid-section and legs did collide with the metal, but his face landed safely near the ring canvas rather than smashing into the weapon.

This fact didn't really hurt the move, it still looked painful, but it's notable that Styles positioned his peer carefully before dropping so as not to indirectly injure him. In the past, AJ has broken the neck of independent wrestler Lionheart with the Styles Clash, so he's probably being extra careful when he can be these days.

That chair was side on for a reason, neither man wanted Roman's face to hit it full on.
