WWE referees are there to do so much more than simply count the falls or admonish wrestlers for their actions. Their job is multi-purpose, those stripy-shirted guys act as a verbal link between the backstage area and the performers working each match. They're also there to help out when they can, making matches flow smoothly.

At one point in the Extreme Rules Match between AJ Styles and Roman Reigns, AJ decided to peel back the ringside mats and tease a Styles Clash on the concrete floor. There was just one problem, the pesky mats wouldn't stay in place, continually flopping back into position.

Coolly and without making much fuss, Mike Chioda placed his foot on the material to stop it from getting in the way. To many, this would have gone unnoticed, but it was the right decision by the referee.

No time was wasted by Styles, wrestling with the mats to get them into the correct position. Chioda's help enabled the wrestlers to get on with their spot without having to deal with the prop.
