WWE Extreme Rules 2016: 10 Things You Probably Missed
3. The Women's Match Didn't Make The Most Of The Spot It Was In
After Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho had toiled in the Asylum Match, it was up to Charlotte and Natalya to try and reignite the pay-per-view in a Submission Match. Amidst all the gimmicks flying around on the show, it wasn't really brought to anyone's attention that the girls were in the sub-main event spot again.
At Payback, Natalya and Charlotte went on right before AJ Styles and Roman Reigns. That proved to be the case once more at Extreme Rules, but it wasn't something Michael Cole, JBL or Byron Saxton really discussed on commentary. That must be considered a missed opportunity.
Similarly, the Submission Match just didn't feel that dramatic before Dana Brooke came out to Ric Flair's music and interfered. This was a real chance for these women to show what they have to offer, but the bout was a humdrum affair that wasn't exactly rocking the house before the interruption at the end.
Natalya and Charlotte have clicked before, most recently at Roadblock, but they didn't make the most of their lofty position on the card at Extreme Rules.
