WWE Extreme Rules 2017: Ranking Fatal 5-Way Competitors Chances

1. Finn Bálor

From a storytelling standpoint, Bálor never lost the title so he should be in the mix already, but since returning he's been involved in other business. He hasn't exactly gone out of his way to call out Brock, which hasn't helped his case, but on Raw he finally drew attention to the fact that he's owed a rematch for relinquishing the belt due to injury.

If WWE wants to position Lesnar as a heel - and it seems they do if the plan is to build him to feud with Reigns, actual crowd support being irrelevant in this case - then Finn is an ideal opponent for 'The Beast'. Despite doing his best career work as a heel, current Bálor is the classic definition of white meat babyface and his diminutive size, especially when compared to the former UFC heavyweight champ, is going to make him the ultimate underdog.

While it's unlikely Bálor will emerge victorious, he'll make an ideal challenger, presenting the opportunity to tell a true David vs. Goliath story with Lesnar that we've been deprived of during his second run. The match has the potential to be a classic, the crowd should absolutely be on fire (great balls of them, in fact), and an impressive showing against the champ, even in defeat, will raise Finn's stock considerably.

With such a star-studded main event, WWE has five legitimate choices that could conceivably walk away with the win and serve as a credible main event threat to the frequently absent champion. Out of all those names, Finn Bálor is the one who makes the most sense, so expect him to have his hand raised at the conclusion of Extreme Rules.
