WWE Extreme Rules 2018: 10 Things We Learned
9. Randy Orton Is Back
One of the more genuine surprises of the night took place when Randy Orton made an unexpected return. The Viper made his way to the ring following Shinsuke Nakamura's U.S. Championship victory. He then stared out the new champion before attacking the fallen Jeff Hardy.
While it's nice to have Orton back, the confrontation was a little confusing. Attacking Hardy in his already-injured groin area following Shinsuke's earlier low-blow certainly suggests that he has turned heel, but then why did he stare a hole through Nakamura?
Orton has always functioned better as a heel. But has he formed an alliance with Shinsuke Nakamura, or was he simply putting the new U.S. champion on notice?
