WWE Extreme Rules 2018: Star Ratings For All 12 Matches
1. Seth Rollins Vs. Dolph Ziggler - Intercontinental Title Iron Man Match
Opponent.
Stipulation.
Preceding undercard dross.
The main event slot.
Dolph Ziggler has never been better positioned to live the gimmick, show the world that he is a main event talent, and steal the show - and he still didn't do it, rendering his next “frustrated” promo even less effective than those he has cut for the last six bloody years or so.
Rollins scored two early, contrived falls of the sort that never conclude a traditional singles match. This was overthought before Drew McIntyre’s interference, and so devoid of genuine build that it’s little wonder the Pittsburgh crowd amused themselves by counting down alongside the clock. Ziggler and Rollins worked hard, accounting for the rating, but not for the first five minutes. Virtually nothing happened, and the producer still contrived to insert two falls. Designed to convince the audience to get behind Rollins, a man they were already behind, this ploy did not work.
The action heated up in the final third, but for what? Yet another screwy heel win at the close of a match ordinarily calibrated to extract the most emotion following an uplifting babyface win?
A match that required genuine imagination to take the crowd for a long ride possessed barely any of it, this was an overbooked and monumental disappointment.
Fire every last road agent. They contribute nothing and too much.
Star Rating: **3/4
