WWE Extreme Rules: 5 Greatest Ever Matches

4. CM Punk Vs. Chris Jericho - Chicago Street Fight

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cV0AxvlKvVU Wrestlemania 28 was a defining moment for both of these superstars. Punk was trying to claim his spot amongst a long list of legends by carrying the WWE championship into the big event and Chris Jericho was trying to do everything within his power to make CM Punk look like the best in the world. At Wrestlemania 28 these two put on a great match but it was somewhat lost in the shuffle between a few other main events and the added stipulation that if CM Punk got disqualifed he would lose his title did nothing but hurt the match itself. Punk and Jericho put on a great match at Wrestlemania 28 but it wasn't quite the match we wanted from them. Their feud had been very bitter and built on alot of hatred from Jericho towards Punk and deserved something a lot more brutal. Fast forward to their Extreme Rules rematch and it was time to see that brutality. Punk and Jericho pulled out all the stops here giving us the match that made the most sense given the nature of their feud. Jericho hated Punk because he thought he was a copycat and Punk hated Jericho bcause he was making his life a living hell. Weapons of all sorts were integrated into this match and it was exactly what this feud needed. Seeing these two beat each other senseless was very convincing as each played their part well. The top rope elbow drop from Punk to Jericho to the outside through the announce table sums it up perfectly. There is nothing these two wouldn't do to hurt each other no matter how much of their own health that had to sacrifice. CM Punk went on to have a historic WWE Championship reign and Jericho went on to work with other young stars in an attempt to build them up. This match will be remembered for years to come thanks to Jericho unselfishly giving his all to make Punk look like a fighting champion and for Punk seizing the opportunity to do so with a true legend.
