Just how important is WWE Fastlane 2017?

It is the last major stop on the road to WrestleMania 33, and as such, presents a peculiar problem for the men and women of RAW. It is unlikely that a stirring performance here will change anyone's 'Mania fate. The wrestlers will also be wary of picking up an injury at the worst possible time, so can be forgiven for holding themselves back somewhat this Sunday.

The flip-side is that every single moment in the WWE spotlight counts. The WrestleMania 33 card is taking shape, and the pressure now lies on the shoulders of the RAW roster when it comes to upping the ante and building excitement for the major event just one month away. For those that may not have a major role to play at 'Mania, a great performance on this show could set something larger up for them in the summer.

Every move WWE makes at this time of the year is important. There is more on the line this Sunday than initially meets the eye, and while Fastlane may not have the most inspiring card in recent memory, what happens on Sunday night will impact a lot more than just the flagship show.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
