WWE Fastlane 2017: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best
A classically awful PPV.
Expectations weren't exactly high for Fastlane, but holy Hell, did WWE double down on the awfulness or what?
While it wasn't quite as infamous as, say, December to Dismember, this year's Fastlane is without question one of the most boring, insulting and bizarrely-booked PPVs of at least the last few years.
Keeping fans on their toes is one thing, but actively booking wrestlers against the most logical option for apparent shock value just leaves a sour taste, and worse still, fans who've paid good money for an actual main event ended up with a cheap cop-out instead.
It's not exactly the compelling lead-in to WrestleMania you'd hope for, and has set an incredibly low bar for Raw-specific PPVs moving forward.
10. Universal Title: Kevin Owens (c) Vs. Goldberg
Result: Goldberg murders KO with the Spear and Jackhammer combo to win the title (0:22).
Rating: This wasn't remotely surprising considering the two random filler matches earlier in the night, but did it really do anyone any favours? Owens looked like a chump and Goldberg won the title via shenanigans, so it's just embarrassing all around really.
Owens messing around on the outside of the ring pre-match was supremely boring and straight-up annoying for bleary-eyed European viewers. The match itself wasn't remotely satisfying in large part because it's just repeating a trick that was only shocking the first time.
Plus, the ref ringing the bell while Jericho was coming to the ring just seems weird from a kayfabe perspective. You can argue that the ref is paying Owens back for stalling, but referees should be professionals and not vindictive children, especially in the main event picture. Terrible. 2/10
