WWE Fastlane 2019: 8 Things We Learned

4. AJ Styles & Randy Orton Are 'Mania Bound

Every year, there's a WrestleMania match between two noteworthy stars that feels like an afterthought. In 2018, it was The Undertaker vs. John Cena, and the year before that it was Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho. This time, it's the turn of both AJ Styles and Randy Orton to work the unimportant card filler spot.

This should be familiar to Mr. RKO. Years ago, he had the same fate against the likes of CM Punk and Kane, and he'll do so again opposite AJ.

There isn't a lot of juice here, or much of a good reason for why Styles and Orton are even feuding. They just are, and it doesn't look like WWE fancy coming up with some context that'd add heat. Nope, they're content to make this an exhibition that's built on generic respect issues rather than something more concrete.

It will not be a shocker if AJ and Randy get 10-12 minutes in the middle of the card to help fans settle down between more meaningful matches. Here's hoping WWE try something to make it a bit more stirring however.
