WWE Fastlane 2021: 10 Nightmares That Could Happen
Fastlane could be WWE's way of setting up a WrestleMania rematch that nobody wants.
Picture the scene.
It was high-fives all-round backstage after Elimination Chamber. Then, somebody shrieked and let go an outburst nobody wanted to hear. 'Oh no! We've still got Fastlane to go before reaching WrestleMania!'. Suddenly, those grins turned to groans as everyone wondered how the hell they were going to fill another 'B' level pay-per-view on the road to Tampa.
That's a fictional scenario, obviously, but it's probably not far from the truth. Fastlane is the kind of show that only exists to pad the calendar - it won't draw in new customers for the Peacock/WWE Network deal, won't really rock the boat pre-'Mania and acts as another slice of content that'll likely still have a few good matches.
Or, it could be an absolute nightmare.
Bray Wyatt's WrestleMania 37 destiny, Drew McIntyre's one-on-one WWE Title shot against Bobby Lashley, Cesaro's recent promise and more could all be scuppered this very Sunday. Also, what if Daniel Bryan become an afterthought, or WWE re-uses that green paint from Raw?
There are loads of terrifying outcomes that could come true this weekend. Prepare to shudder as you explore them...
10. Old Pals Get Cut Short
Bruising battles between real-life pals Drew McIntyre and Sheamus have been a real highlight on Raw lately. Together, the pair have kicked lumps out of one another, and they're not done. Or, at least, anyone tuning into Fastlane should hope so. There's a lingering sense of dread that WWE might spoil the fun.
Hurt Business run-in time? Perhaps.
Drew and Sheamus deserve to end their feud on a high-note. They actually deserved to see this made into a number one contender's bout, but WWE decided to pre-announce McIntyre as Bobby Lashley's WrestleMania opponent on Raw ahead of time instead. Lord only knows why.
It'd be a bit crap if Drew and Sheamus only got around 10 minutes here before THB sprinted out to lay waste to both. That'd probs lead to a McIntyre and Sheamus reunion, which wouldn't make any sense. WWE should turn this one into a 'No DQ' effort again too - otherwise, they're going backwards on recent Raw booking.
