Is Raw's midcard truly so shallow that Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz is the only match that can possibly ever be held for the WWE Intercontinental Championship?
Miz is an easy pick to hold on to the belt here. Ambrose did absolutely nothing in his run, while Miz only continues to elevate its importance. Miz needs to move on to better opponents that aren't named Dolph Ziggler or Dean Ambrose.
The booking for this feud has been quite terrible. The momentary popularity of Miz's bear was undercut by the fact that it instantly became a meme. For some reason, WWE decided that the arrival of Mike and Maria Kanellis on SmackDown Live! meant that the former best couple has to split up, marking the potential end of Miz and Maryse due to some really lazy writing.
Best case scenario? Miz and Maryse reunite, with Maryse helping her husband retain the belt. Ambrose looks like a sympathetic babyface, Miz looks like a cheating heel overestimating his own abilities. Everybody wins.
Additionally, Ambrose can move on to greener pastures. After all, all three former members of The Shield are on Raw and are technically faces.
