Besides, the Rumble main event gave fresh talent like Elias an opportunity to show why he's making great progress in WWE.

Coming out as number 20, Raw's resident music man eliminated five other Rumble entrants during a strong 35-minute showing. They weren't exactly jobbers either. Elias ousted Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Konnor (OK, maybe that one doesn't count for much), Randy Orton and no less a star than Kurt Angle.

Yes, Kurt Angle. It's unlikely WWE will book a match between both men, and yet it's something notable Elias can hang his hat on that he eliminated a legend during the tail-end of his comeback year.

Michael Cole also put him over big time on commentary, suggesting that Elias is in for quite the push over the next few months. That's a good thing. He's been smashing it in his current role, has a sweet look, proved he could handle the pressure in a busy match and came out of the Rumble shining.
