WWE Hall Of Fame: 5 Candidates To Induct The Ultimate Warrior

4. Sgt. Slaughter

Sgt. Slaughter may now be a WWE legend who makes sporadic babyface appearances every now and again, but in the early 90s he was the most despised heel on the planet. In one of the most controversial angles of all-time, Sgt. Slaughter did the unthinkable and reinvented his character as a heel that supported the Iraqi cause in the Middle-East. Siding himself with a character known as General Adnan, Slaughter beat Warrior for the WWE Championship at the 1991 Royal Rumble before starting a feud with Hulk Hogan, who would then win the belt off of Slaughter at WrestleMania VII. The subsequent feud saw old rivals Hogan and Warrior teaming up to take down the team of Slaughter, Adnan and Colonel Mustafa (The Iron Sheik) in a 3-on-2 handicap match at SummerSlam 1991. After losing the match, Slaughter would quickly go back to being a face, it was a good thing he did, too, this was before everyone had internet access and the angle was so controversial that Slaughter was regularly receiving death threats from fans. Warrior played a key part in ending Slaughter's infamous heel run and to see Slaughter himself induct him would be quite fitting.
