WWE Hall Of Famer 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan Undergoes Emergency Surgery

The legendary Hacksaw was hospitalised over the weekend.

The legendary 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan has been hospitalised over this weekend.

Posting on Hacksaw's Facebook page, Jim's wife Debra detailed how the WWE Hall of Famer was admitted to hospital on Friday evening, and underwent emergency surgery the following day.

We want to thank everyone that came out yesterday as Jim was honored by the Glens Falls Firefighters Association and apologize to those that came after 3:30.

Jim was taken to the hospital and admitted yesterday evening. He had emergency surgery this morning and everything went well. We will reschedule tomorrow in Utica, MI for a later time. We welcome your prayers and we will continue to provide updates.

As alluded to, Hacksaw was inducted into the Glens Falls Firefighters Association as an honorary member for his work in the '70s as a summer firefighter. That induction was followed by a meet-and-great, and $2,500 was raised for the GF Nation Fund. Also, 8 September was declared James 'Hacksaw' Duggan Day by Mayor Collins.

Duggan's pro wrestling career began back in 1979, getting his first break with Fritz Von Erich in Dallas, Texas. The former college footballer would really come into his own in Mid-South Wrestling a couple of years later, becoming part of the villainous Rat Pack faction alongside Ted DiBiase, Matt Borne, and Mr. Olympia. Having turned babyface and started carrying his trademark 2x4, Jim would join the then-WWF in 1987 shortly before WrestleMania III. That run would last through until 1993, and Duggan would then jump to WCW in 1994 and stay with the promotion up until it closed its doors in 2001. Following that, the New Yorker would have several returns to WWE, being inducted into the WWE Hall of Famer in 2011.
