WWE legend 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan could be set to return home this weekend after spending Thanksgiving in a South Carolinan intensive care unit.

Duggan's daughter Celia posted a photo to Instagram on Thursday, revealing that her father, 64, was consigned to a hospital bed over the holiday. She noted that despite being stuck in ICU, the smiling Duggan was "in high spirits" and that the family had "a lot to be thankful for this year."

It's unknown why 'Hacksaw' was hospitalised, but according to his own Instagram account, he has now been moved from the ICU and is hoping to be discharged over the weekend:

He had previously posted to note that he was "doing OK", but would miss his independent booking on Saturday. Despite being into his mid-'60s, Duggan continues to wrestle on occasion on the independent circuit.

Duggan shot to fame after joining WWE in 1987, where he quickly connected with younger fans by waving a big plank of wood - his patented 2x4 - and shouting "Ho!", all in the name of the good ol' USA. Such was Duggan's popularity that he won the company's first televised Royal Rumble event.

In 1998, Duggan, now with WCW, announced he was to undergo surgery for kidney cancer. He made a successful comeback just a year later.

Big Jim was inducted into WWE's Hall of Fame in 2011, and makes sporadic appearances for the company. We at WhatCulture.com wish him a speedy recovery.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
