WWE Hell In A Cell 2016: 11 Things WWE Got Right

The build-up to WWE Hell in a Cell 2016 was full of discussions about what match would open the show, with many believing the first ever female Hell in a Cell match would get that honour. Luckily, sense prevailed and the main show curtain was jerked by Roman Reigns defending the United States Championship against Rusev.

This was objectively the right decision. With three cell matches on the show they simply had to be spread out through the card, and unless you want to open the show with your Universal Championship match this was the only real option. Reigns retaining the title was also probably the right move.

That is where the positivity ends however, as this feud has been a turd-fire for all involved. Reigns has utterly dominated Rusev throughout, and whilst I hate to lambast Roman the only reason this was in a cell was because of how he is viewed by the creative team. The two had a more than decent No DQ brawl, but as far as Hell in a Cell matches go this was an example of how the format doesn't work in the PG era.
